Installation
One price for the part and the work.
You pick the hardware, I quote the whole job as one number before I start. No separate install fee discovered after the box shows up.
How it goes
- Build a list. Add what you want to your quote list. Nothing is charged and nothing is committed.
- Send it with a photo. A picture of your door or yard tells me more than a paragraph does. Door thickness matters for locks.
- I send one price. Parts and labor together, in writing, usually the same day.
- I show up and install it. Same person who answered your questions.
What I install, and what I don’t
I install what fits inside California’s minor-work exemption: jobs whose total cost — the hardware, the labor, and everything else — stays under $1,000 and needs no building permit. Retrofit smart locks on an existing door and low-voltage landscape fixtures on an existing transformer are the everyday examples.
Line-voltage work, new transformers, pool and underwater fixtures, anything needing a permit: that is licensed-electrician territory. I’ll still sell you the part, and I’ll point you at someone licensed to put it in. Anything that needs a permit, a licensed trade, or that can't be done safely gets referred to a licensed contractor. Price alone never qualifies a job.
Ruben is not a licensed contractor. Installation is quoted only for jobs whose total cost — parts, labor, and everything else — stays under $1,000 and needs no building permit (California B&P 7027.2, 7048).
